Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival presents:
COACHING FOR BODY AND VOICE IN THEATRE AND DANCE
is a 4-day workshop that merges movement, theatre, voice production and contemporary coaching methods. The work develops a greater and stronger self-expression within the body and voice.
Through techniques, exercises and assignments Stuart Lynch and Astrid Lund aim to generate an authentic relation to ones practice and skills within the following six areas:
Body Awareness / Voice Production / Attitude & Presence / Public speaking / Dramatic expression / Movement Quality
WHAT DO I GET FROM IT?
The physiological and psychological connection of the body to the voice is intimately connected with movement, breathing and one’s state of mind. This connection is radically affected when one has to perform or speak in public (public speaking is a statistically rated fear higher than the fear of death). The combination of coaching, movement work and voice training is specifically designed to release and free the workshop participant any fears around the voice and body and create greater for physical and vocal freedom.
WHAT WILL I DO?
The workshop will contain unique modules, assignments and exercises that generate an authentic relation to one’s self and one body and voice. Coaching and teaching will be made on an individual and group basis and depend upon the needs of each individual and the group.
1500 NOK / 1200 NOK for students/unemployed

IS IT SUITABLE FOR ME?
The workshop is inclusive, fun and informative. The inclusive nature of the workshop makes it relevant for beginner and experienced practitioner alike. It is open to performers or individuals from different backgrounds who might be inspired by theatre as a vibrant, multi-dimensional expressive practice. For dancers it is a chance to discover the voice, for theatre practitioners to develop a deeper relation to ones practice and to non-performers it is a chance to be introduced to the potential of the body and the voice.
WHO HAS DONE THIS WORK BEFORE?
To date this workshop has been attended by; yoga teachers, architects, martial artists, philosophy students, business manager’s dancers and actors. It has been practically applied in the following areas: Theatre, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, meditation, athletics and voice, music and art studies.
